Final Assignment

I did like the class I liked all the hands on work we did with Blogger and Prezi. I did not know what I was going to expect with this class. I picked this class because it had the word digital media in it. I think my expectations were met. I think I would like to see more hands on social media networking. One positive thing about the class is that we are learning different things about the media world. One negative thing is that sine we are always on the computers I do get distracted sometimes. But I have a good time in the class.

Privacy Scavenger Hunt

California: More Privacy Towards Minors
Now that technology has skyrocketed into this new era of technology, California wants to regulate laws that pertain to California minors to protect their information in the digital world.
But I believe that this problem should be solved by limiting certain things for age appropriate people. But this will go into effect in January 1, 2015.

EPIC Files Complaint Against DoubleClick

EPIC is filing a complaint against DoubleClick, DoubleClick is an Internet advertising company. EPIC filed the complaint because the company is unlawfully tracking the online activities of internet users. This should be resolved by having the internet user, turn off their cookie settings.

Driver's Policy

The Seventh Circuit Court appeals that a federal privacy law, prevented a Chicago suburb from issuing tickets with the persons information. But the reason for this was because another law was made because a man found an actresses address through the department of motor vehicles, and he murdered her.
But a way to resolve this is to have more security online and at the location.

My Privacy Policies

Instagram

Their privacy policy says that they work with other companies and if they were to ever become bought by a company that our accounts will be intact but the company might also change it or keep it the same.
Also Instagram has the right to give our information (username, passwords, etc.) for legal purposes. And they also share our information with the companies they affiliate with as well. It also automatically record a lot of things from your mobile device or computer.

Twitter

They also record your data from your mobile device and computer. And they also share our information with third parties. And they basically have the same policies as Instagram but they have different affiliates.

Facebook
Facebook also has the same policy privacy as Instagram and Twitter just a little bit more different. With both Twitter and Facebook they both share user's information when they buy something from the website or third party.
Vine

Also Vine has the same privacy policy as these other social media websites.

I think neither has the best privacy policy because it records information from my devices which could and possibly become hacked. But Instagram does have the right to keep that from happening. So I would choose Instagram. The worst is definitely Facebook just because everything in my account can become exposed to everyone. I don't use Facebook as much and I feel okay with Instagram because my account is public but Instagram can prevent my account from being hacked.

Group Progress Report

Social Media - any online tool or application that goes beyond simply providing information, instead allowing collaboration, interaction, and sharing. Examples of social media include: blogs; microblogs; wikis; photo and video sharing; podcasts; virtual worlds; social networking; social news and bookmarking; web conferencing and webcasting.
We have two team members in our group.
Samuel is in charge in researching and Alicia will be stetting up and working on the presentation.
For example:

EPA’s policy to use social media where appropriate in order to meet its mission of protecting human health and the environment. Agency product review processes in place for regional and program offices apply to EPA’s use of social media.
